Day wise Itinerary:

Today you will arrive at Delhi's International Airport. Our office representative will meet you as you exit the arrivals terminal building and transfer you to your hotel.

Delhi is India's capital and a major gateway to the country. It is a bustling metropolis, which successfully combines in its folds - the ancient with the modern. Amidst the fast spiraling skyscrapers the remnants of a bygone time in the form of its many monuments stand as silent reminders to the region's ancient legacy.

After a leisurely breakfast meet your guide (exclusively booked for you) in the lobby. You learn key words and phrases that will help you communicate with the locals during the tour. Today, discover Delhi in all its majesty.

Begin the tour with a visit to unique yet fascinating experience of Old Delhi. Drive past the mighty Red Fort followed by a private tricycle rickshaw ride through the lanes of ChandniChowk, also known as Silver Street, experiencing the sights and sounds of this very busy avenue heading west from the Fort. Conclude the tour of Old Delhi with Raj Ghat - father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi's memorial.

As a complete contrast to Old Delhi, New Delhi stands in formal splendour, like a lone sentry guarding an outpost of a long-gone empire. It is a city of wide boulevards, which offers ever-changing perspec¬tives of Lutyen's landscaped city. This drive will take you through the historic buildings, streets & plazas, churches & temples, museums & monuments, and shops & markets, and gardens of this impressive capital of modern India.

You will drive past the magnificent Parliament Building and the RashtrapatiBhawan, once the awe-inspiring residence of the British Viceroys and now the Presidential Palace, India Gate (a majestic 42-mts high arch, built as a memorial to the Indian Soldiers killed in World War I). Visit QutabMinar (the 72.5 mts high tower dating back to 13th century and one of the greatest bequests of Islamic Culture).

Take a leisurely drive towards Jaipur [258 Kms / 5.30 Hrs].

Jaipur - the capital of Rajasthan province is known for its arts and crafts, jewellery, hand-painted fabrics and stone sculptures; it is one of North India's finest examples of a planned city embodying the best of Rajput and Mughal architecture.

After breakfast at the hotel, today take a short drive to experience royal ride atop elegantly draped and painted elephants, to the mountain fortress of Amber. High above the city, the towers and domes of the Amber Fort are reminiscent of scenes from some fairy tale. The palace itself is within the enormous fort complex and is replete with halls, gardens, pavilions, and temples. The Hall of Mirrors is not to be missed where one lit matchstick can illuminate the entire room.

Your afternoon city tour starts with the observatory, JantarMantar. This observatory, begun in 1728 and completed in 1734, with its unusual sculptural pieces, tells the visitor much. One can locate the Pole Star and all Zodiac signs, or calculate the longitude and latitude of celestial bodies, or simply tell the time to an accuracy of 2 seconds. Keeping all his scientific principles in mind, Maharaja Jai Singh also built the City Palace in the centre of the city.

Later visit the City Palace Museum, which houses a magnificent collection of artefacts, tapestries, miniature paintings, and arms of the maharajas of Jaipur. You will explore the City Palace and see HawaMahal- the Palace of Wind, and walk through the colorful markets of Jaipur.

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then drive towards Agra (285 Kms/5.5 Hrs). On your way, you'll visit FatehpurSikri, a fort palace that was the onetime capital of the Mughal Empire and is now a UNESCO world heritage site.

FatehpurSikri -the deserted red sandstone city, an outstanding example of Mughal architecture built by the Great Mughal Emperor Akbar as his capital and palace in the late 16th century and abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water.

Afternoon, continue your drive towards Agra - Medieval city situated on the banks of river Yamuna, it came into prominence when a lavish patronage of Mughal rulers created forts, tombs, and palaces in red sandstone and marble inlaid with semi- precious stones.

Early today morning, visit the TajMahal (closed on Fridays) with a horse carriage rideto the gates. Built by Mughal EmperorShah Jahan as an expression of his love for his wife MumtazMahal, some 20,000 labourers spent 22 years on the exquisitely symmetrical white marble mausoleum, in the 17th century.

On the inner walls of this magnificent structure, jewel-like stones create beautiful designs on a backdrop of white marble. This beautiful monument is inlaid with precious stones; and the white marble that so vividly captured the world's imagination was brought to the site from many hundred miles away. Stay on to appreciate the beauty of the TajMahal which is breathtaking and stunning in the golden glow of sunrise. Return to your hotel for breakfast.

Thereafter visit the impressive Agra Fort, the seat and stronghold of the Mughal Empire for successive generations. The buildings within this sprawling fort complex represent the assimilation of different cultures, which was the mark of the Mughal period.

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to railway station for your train to Jhansi.

On arrival at Jhanshi, transfer to your waiting vehicle for your onward drive towards Khajuraho. You will stop at Orchha - a city frozen in time known for its 16th century palaces and temples.

Continue your drive toKhajuraho - translated as Kharjur in Sanskrit, meaning date palm, has the largest group of medieval Hindu and Jain temples famous for their erotic sculpture.

On arrival, check-in at the hotel.This evening you attend the Light and Sound show (Son-et-Lumière) - a fascinating show in English in the Western Group of temples complex which mark the story of the exclusive temples from the 10th century to the present day.

Breakfast at the hotel and today explore the Eastern and Western Group Temple complex dating to 10th century, a UNESCO world heritage site.The tour of Khajuraho this morning concentrates on the erotic temples, which represent some of the finest examples of temple architecture in Northern India. Later in time, transfer to the airport to board your flight to Varanasi:

Varanasi or Benares as it was once known is Hinduism's holiest city and a sacred place for pilgrimage. The Ganges runs though a plethora of ghats (or terraced steps on the river bank leading to the river), with thousands of devotees, burning pyres and solemn chanting. Nothing can quite prepare you for the wonderful experience that is Varanasi.

On arrival at Varanasi airport, transfer to your hotel.
This evening you attend the traditional aarti offering ceremony, as you cruise along the banks of river Ganges.

Early this morning you return to the Ganges, where Hindu pilgrims perform their rituals along the ghats (steps) leading to the river. At sunrise, the Hindu faithful flock to the river to cleanse themselves of their sins. You visit several ghats by boat as you experience the spiritual mystique of these hallowed waters.

On return, visit the bazaars (local market) and KashiVishwanath Temple - the most sacred of the shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. Return to your hotel for breakfast.

Later you travel to Sarnath, a major Buddhist centre, where Buddha, delivered his first sermon. Visit the museumthat houses an excellent collection of Buddhist art and sculpture.
